This Westminster Villa is a 19th-century home with charming elements that complete the set. Get to know all the details, just keep on reading! The Interior Designers Audrey Carden and Eleanora Cunietti met in their 20’s and they already were interior designers. They become friends after an antique fair where they run into each other. Their first project together was a big residential project in Ireland, Cunietti asked for Carden’s help and she said yes. This collaboration went really well and they joined forces, opening their company Carden Cunietti in 1996. Their clients include luxurious houses, private planes, yachts, a clubhouse, and a personal nightclub. Westminster Villa This villa is located only a few blocks away from Westminster and belongs to a couple and their two daughters. If the outside is this welcoming and charming, imagine the interior. This is an example of a very peaceful living room, with a garden view! The fireplace was designed by Carden and made by Ryan and Smith. To complete the set, two blue MInotti Armchairs, the coffee table, and glass bottles from Venini. According to Carden, “The clients like to entertain a lot, so the foyer isn’t just a foyer, it’s another party space,”. “Everything is quite shiny, and when you’re in the room, you get a good bit of reflection.” She designed the floor of white and black marble. Walking side by with a green glass chandelier, we can find a 1940’s french table. The study belongs to the wife, it has “light poles” from Venini Globes, an outstanding rug by Bruno Moinard, and the final touch, a wall light by Bert Frank. This is the study that belongs to the husband and it has a unique decoration. The painting belongs to William Kentridge, the rug has Bruno Moinard’s hand. The dining room has a smooth touch, even with the dark tones! The dining table is by Davidson, a British furniture maker. The fabric on the JNL chairs belongs to the French Maker, Métaphores, and last, but not least, the artwork is by Dale Frank. Carden says that “The client loves to cook, so she wanted a kitchen that was practical — but also sociable,”. “We created a breakfast nook so that there was a place for people to sit and hang out.” The Bedrooms The main bedroom needed to be very calm, with neutral tones, except the headboard of emerald green velvet! With Murano uplight and two 1950’s Gio Ponti Chairs. Regarding the bathroom the client asked for “a bathroom that would remind them of staying in a great hotel,” says Carden. “It took a lot of work to get the black and white marble right, with all the book matched pieces.”. Last, but not least, the daughter’s bedroom, which is comfy and glamorous as we can see. With a sliding mirror, that works for makeup and hair. The chandelier is a family heirloom, and the bedside table belongs to Chelsea Textiles. All in order to conclude this article on this Westminster Villa! The daughter’s bathroom has art deco motifs with all-over colors and Carrara marble. Carden says “the house took about 4 months to design and 14 months to build. “There’s a lot of detail work,” she says. “It’s not like a country house where you just live with what you find.”. Zanotta House is an Italian Design Home that arrived to New York City to make a statement. Alessia Genova is the responsible for the entire design, let’s see what she did! Alessia Genova is a managing partner of Tihany Design in New York, but she is as Italian. She grew up in Biella, a small town in the northern region of Piedmont, Italy. She has many hospitality projects, that started in the Mandarin Oriental in Istanbul to Daniel Restaurant in Manhattan! This is Zanotta House! Zanotta is a furniture company in Genova’s home country, and this is why they are part of this residential space concept in New York City. This place is now open and it’s located at 23 Cornelia Street, in Greenwich Villa. All of the place has Italian touches, both contemporary and vintage. According to Genova, “Not everything is a showroom with pieces in a vignette,”. “It feels like a home.”. She has found the right place for Zanotta’s lesser-known pieces from the past century. Here you can find a bedroom with a CC-Tapis and Alessandro Mendini’s 1984 Cetonia Chest of Drawers. Where the comfort reigns! In this Zanotta House there’s a masterpiece, the Mollino’s nearly 10-foot-long Reale table, which is the main star of the living room. Side by side with Nena Chairs by Lanzavecchia + Wai and two hand-decorated consoles by Alessandro Mendini. Last, but not least, this room has side tables and decor objects that are the DNA of Zanotta. Like the Servomuto table and Sella seat, by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. Interior Design Trends of Summer 2021! The end of Summer is near and it’s time to remember the trends that were important and that will remain in our minds. They are three, so let’s find them! NEW BRUTALISM Our Interior Design Trends article begins with New Brutalism within a Jamie Bush design home. This place is located near Lake Tahoe, California and the client wanted a feel of Tom Ford in the forest. In order to create the right ambiance, Jamie chooses the new brutalist style. He wanted to have a balance between the living room’s dark tones and the surrounding Northern California landscape. Bush says that “I’m always inspired by nature,”; “Organic forms, irregular textures, and naturalistic patterning are all elements we utilized in this space.” 1980’S TO THE MAX Kelly Behun is the interior designer of this entrance and it’s obvious because there’s no one like her. If you want joy, if you want style, Kelly Behun is the answer you’ve been looking for. In this image, we can see a lacquer entry table that makes all the difference in a neutral entrance. This 80’s vibe has our hearts! NEOTENIC CURVES We continue our shortlist with this Neotenic Design, by Tiffany Howell. Tiffany is the founder of Los Angeles and Montecito-based Night Palm Studio and she is responsible for this living room design. This is a Miami apartment high above the water, where she decided to apply this design, which produces a soothing effect with soft, but exaggerated proportions. She says that “I didn’t want anything to compete with the view, so I made sure the materials we used elevated the space,”; “I am attracted to Surrealism and wanted the pieces to feel like something out of a Dalí painting.” Credits to: 1st Dibs

Davide Medri was born in Cesena and educated in the Ravenna Fine Arts Academy, the Mosaic Art Institute and the Albestainer Mosaic Professional School. The mirror mosaics which distinguished him from other artists and designers first saw the light when he met with Gallery Dilmos in 1997 after several artistic experiments. Besides mosaic mirrors, his works also range from tables, lamps to sculptures. They are great examples of craftsmanship because each single glass piece is cut and fixed by hand, so the uniqueness of each design goes without saying. Many of the products´ photos are taken in ruined buildings, creating a beautiful contrast between shiny mirrors and glasses with rough walls and floors. Other photos are taken in luxury interiors where light of chandelier reflects on the artworks and gives a luxurious atmosphere.  In a video, Davide Medri talked about how he is fascinated by using the same tools used by the ancient Romans and art has been renewed in its form but remains so ancient in the method. And for him, light is energy as if it represents the soul, that’s the reason why he has replaced marble with mirrors, so that light can be reflected and spread in the surroundings.  And in every tessera, one can see their own reflection, part of their eyes, the mirror of the human soul that meets with the light. Davide Medri combines light and sculpture mosaics, playing with the fragile border between art and design. Light changes and moves on the artistic installation and so do the reflections on the walls and on everything that surround it.

The interior design trends 2021 revolve around zen-like relaxing spaces and natural, pleasant and calming colours. YELLOW – A COLOR THAT BRINGS A SENSE OF JOY “Illuminating Yellow” paired with “Ultimate Grey” are the colors that are taking the stage in 2021. This combination, chosen by Pantone for the 2021 ruling color duo is meant to represent a combination of strength and resilience with sunshine and brightness. When a color means positivity, joy and hope, it is always a good choice.  COZY AND RELAXING SEATING AREAS When the Covid-19 situation locked most of us at home, people started thriving for more relaxing and cozy furniture, especially when it comes to living room area. 2020 also made us meet with family and friends at home, so the seating space became more important than before.  “I think people want a living room that is comfortable, approachable, usable and functional” says the designer Mark Cunningham. For the upcoming year, we can expect big, soft armchairs and large, comfy sofas that could fit a lot of people at once.  A NEW, MORE LUXURIOUS FACE OF MINIMALISM Less is more, the trend initiated in design in the 1960s comes back to us like a boomerang. Minimalism in interiors is based on a style that avoids excessive decor, striving for a clear and orderly space without “distractions”. But when we don’t have so-called distractions, what really matters are details and quality of materials. This is a distinctive feature of Luxe Minimalism: high-quality, luxury furniture and décor pieces, that make a statement in the interior. This face of minimalism introduces natural materials like marble, wood, brass etc, that create a sense of calmness in our personal space.  HOME OFFICE ASYLUM 2020 can definitely be called a ‘working from home’ revolution. Those praying for some home office time could finally enjoy this type of work. But with a start of home office period, the problem of space emerged, as people realized they don’t have a proper place at home dedicated just for working.  JOURNEYS TO FARAWAY LANDS Another trend that is a consequence of 2020 experiences is the longing for travels. Most travel plans got cancelled, some of us were scared of traveling, other got fed up with changing restrictions and traveling rules. But the longing for faraway lands goes bigger and bigger. As we long for some adventures, we will be seeing tropical and animal prints with bold color combinations in interior design.  ‘There are many people who have missed the freedom to go aboard in 2020,’ says Paula Sutton of Hill House Vintage. ‘So I predict a return to a global inspiration within interiors, where our spaces reflect our travels, the sea and distant shores.’  Apart from furniture pieces, the houses will be adorned with accessories, paintings and photos of distant locations, such as African Safari or beautiful beaches of New Zealand. JAPANDI – A NEW FACE OF ZEN-LIKE SPACES The combination of Japanese and Scandinavian style gives rise to Japandi: a harmonious blend of minimalism, simplicity and functional modern design. Japandi takes the best from both styles and combines them into a beautiful whole. So here we have clean, bright spaces with the necessary amount of furniture and accessories. Japandi uses objects with straight lines and a range of subdued colours. This makes interiors “breathable” and light, while calming and not overwhelming. BOLD COLOR COMBINATIONS MIXED WITH NEUTRALS While the neutral colors are always a safe bet when it comes to interior design, one may easily get bored with them. Now there comes the age of bold choices. Color accents are a fantastic way of enhancing the decoration of an apartment, placed in an appropriate and thoughtful way they can turn a seemingly simple and boring interior into a unique space. Rock star, Lenny Kravitz, became an interior designer and transformed a house in Beverly Hills into a maximalist home inspired by the seventies. In addition to an extraordinary rock star, Lenny Kravitz became an interior designer. Williams, a luxury realtor, was looking for a designer for the home of his dreams, purchased with his wife and partner, Rayni. Therefore, the first meeting of these two guys was the beginning of a successful design partnership. Located in the historic neighborhood of Trousdale Estates in Beverly Hills – once the home of Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Also, Williams’ new home was designed by iconic mid-century architect Jack Charney. Williams’ family wanted the house to be a tribute to Trousdale’s heyday in the middle of the century, but with more eccentric details and no rules. Although the family knew several renowned designers, they couldn’t find the perfect fit, until one night they found the Kravitz Design website. The next day, Williams spotted Kravitz on the road. Once Williams established that he was not a crazy fan, the two realized that they shared a common vision. According to Kravitz, his design aesthetic can go in many different directions depending on the client’s ideas and the project. Williams’ concern was with how they would pay a rock star.But Lenny reassured them and said, “I want to work with you on this, if you really want to do it and don’t hold back, I’m on board”. Destroying the house after the discovery of asbestos, the couple rebuilt it following the exact architectural footprint of Charney. With only minor modifications (higher ceilings, for example) and an extension of 1,000 square feet. Williams and Kravitz Design collaborated closely to bring their decadent vision to life, detail by meticulous detail. Against a light background of yellows, oranges, neutrals, and metallic and lush velvets coexist with graphic patterns, from tiger stripes to 1920s chinoiserie. To find the perfect stone for the dramatic shower, one of Kravitz’s favorite features, they scoured stone yards for two years until they found the right one. Williams ended up taking the same perfectionist approach, in all aspects of the home, like Lenny. Williams and Kravitz loved layers. Always looking for the perfect new addition, be it a Chinese jade toilet bowl or a bronze tiger head. However, they have always kept the spirit of mid-century design in mind. Louis Vuitton celebrates 160 years with a special exhibition – Louis Vuitton X in 468 North Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills from June 28th to November 10th, 2019. Over 180 items was displayed in the iconic two-story building transformed in instagram friendly sunset hue, including a collection of early twentieth century special order trunks, art deco perfume bottles and iconic monogram bags, reworked by renowned artists and designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, Cindy Sherman and Frank Gehry. Design Museum Gent in Gent, Belgium is hosting a large exhibition in honor of the year of Van Eyck. The exhibition connects the past with the present through the use of colours, explores the origin of color, how they affect our emotions and how they react to different materials and light. During the immersive exhibition Kleureyck, visitors can see, feel and sense colours. Correspond with or inspired by the restored masterpiece of Jan Van Eyck, Adoration of the Mystic Lamb or Ghent Altarpiece, over 100 contemporary art works are showcased at the exhibition Kleureyck. 13 details from the Ghent Altarpiece were chosen to curate this pigment walk that includes product and furniture design, ceramic, textiles and glassware. There are 11 experience rooms where visitors get to see, hear, feel and even taste the colours, located in the museum´s 18th century building. 11 designers were commissioned to create works based on Van Eyck’s Ghent Altarpiece, and explore the relation between colour and sense. Nick Verstand created an installation called “ANIMA III”, exploring how to give depth to colour. Flowing colours were projected in a large sphere, enhanced by the soundtrack of  Salvador Breed.
