AN BRIGHT AND COLORFUL VILLA IN COSTA AZUL DESIGNED BY INDIA MAHDAVI

An bright and colorful villa in costa azul designed by India Mahdavi set new boundaries with this new project in Costa Azul that mixes happiness with color.

The architect used to travel a lot when she was younger. Naturally, that changed her way of seeing the world. It expanded her horizons and made her valorize the more special and unique places.

She and her father’s side of the family moved around a lot. From her father’s original country, Iran, to the United States, Germany, and ending in France with her parents and her brothers. This colorful Costa Azul villa was built in France.

A bright and colorful villa with green grass and the breeze coming from the ocean that is only a couple of kilometers away from the place. Those elements bring happiness to the architect thanks to her memories.
Currently, she lives in Paris, wherein this winter, the decorative art museum will showcase handmade accessories.

MORE LIGH THE BETTER

Putting aside the looks, Provenza is a stage of a cultural explosion that can be very appealing to some art-oriented kids. Such as Raoul Dufy, Marc Chagall, and Henri Matisse lived in France, like India Mahdavi. To prove this stage culture, there are still some designs, such as the Chapelle du Rosaire, a masterpiece by artist Matisse, an inspiration to India.

India returned to her design activity when an acquaintance of her family asked her to remodel his vacation home. The location is near the Niza airport and the dock of Saint Laurent du Var.

The house has 5 bedrooms with a fantastic view over the sea and nature. The owner wished to be there with his family along by the pool. Therefore the original 80s structure of the house needed to be adapted to please the client’s needs.

COLORS AND HANDMADE OBJECTS – SOUL OF THE PARTY

On this project, the architect used many eye-catching colors and handmade accessories. These elements characterize her design style, especially in hotels, stores, and villas such as the Costa Azul.

Besides using the light to her advantage, India wants people to feel things while looking at her projects.

Unlike the classic villas, which for some time were in vogue thanks to Rory Cameron and other artists, the architect wants to change the traditional style. She wants to use different materials textures to brighten and turn her projects one of a kind.

The villa has a very welcoming environment. Starting with the tile floor that goes around the living and dining room until the bedroom. It combines the color terracotta and white, which creates a shadow and light effect.

Going into the main bathroom, the architect used green and white Moroccan traditional titles to create a straight line contrasting with the predominant environment and the colorful crystal doors. Unifying other arts such as “seta mágica,” the garden incorporates a big sculpture, one of the owner’s pieces.

When it came to the furniture, as India can draw, she could choose between the furniture saved on the storage. The rest of the furniture was designed by her, such as the curvy tables and the chairs that reinforce the nostalgic feeling from the terracotta.

The architect incorporated an ashlar Cap Martim with chairs and embroidered patches around the table in the dining room. Additionally, oceanic propositions called double diagonal thanks to the starfish base.

Apart from that, India added some vintage accessories to this Costa Azul villa. Such as the blue armchairs by Emilio Terry in the hall; wood cabinets by Sottsass, red velvet cushions, and a mid-century bench in the dining room.

VILLA IN COSTA AZUL

The harmonic scheme in the villa was inspired by nature. The solo, the grass, the sea, the sky, the sun, and handmade local. Caroline Denervaud, a swiss painter, spent a week painting a mural behind the rattan bar cabinet. Giuseppe Ducrot designed the rugs by the pool.

India is very proud of her finished project, but she regrets not including a familiar kitchen in the villa. However, the client wanted a professional one.
