The outstanding Milan home of the Fiat Heir and globe-trotting entrepreneur Lapo Elkann is breathtaking. It showcases his whole personality.
Lapo Elkann is a multi-faceted man. In addition to creating sporty apparel and a sunglasses line for his brand, Lapo distributes movies with his filmmaker sister. Plus, he is a consultant on Ferrari Tailor Made, a custom division of Fiat Chrysler.
In the last years, Lapo Elkann launched a made-to-measure capsule collection with the well-known brand Gucci. The Fiat heir likes to see exhibitions, artists, galleries, and designers.
Moving forward to his most personal project: his 3,100 square foot duplex apartment in Milan. The vital objective was to brighten the home to the max.
In collaboration with Milanese architect Natalie Bianchi, Lapo Elkann renovated all his homes. At first, Elkann added floor-to-ceiling windows and moved the walls to brighten the space.
The designer states that the Fiat heir was in hand with this project. As blue is Lapo Elkann’s favorite, he incorporated the color all around his Milan duplex. He stated that he didn’t like the typical houses’ layout. Therefore, they designed the house to look like a boat with pattern floors, stripped pantry walls, and zig-zag floors.

In the living room, there is one of Elkann´s favorite pieces, the caterpillars Ueli Berger sofa. It is against the beautiful wall revested in bamboo-forest wallpaper.
Elkann loves the work of the architect Ettore Sottsass´s. That is evident in the décor of the house. From a commode with dozens of Italian sunglasses to a geometric totem beside a terrace door.
The bookshelves are filled with books about cars, design., history, politics, and novels by his father. Carlos Borromeo, an industrial designer, personalized the cocktail table about the southern Italy love that Elkann has.
In his two-level closet, there is a spiral staircase. The room is revested in dark and light mahogany, a combination inspired by Riva Aquarama boats. Lapo Elkann, as a joke, started to put Italia’s independent logo on various chairs. However, Elkann stated that it looked good, so he added all the chairs.
Elkann’s rooms are entirely different from the Agnelli estate near Turin that his maternal grandmother relives. The Fiat heir wants his houses to showcase his personality, not his family.
Among his previous houses, he states they didn’t reflect his style. However, this blue Milan duplex is precisely what he wanted. When it comes to art, Elkann is a pure Italian supporter.

The Milan duplex is noticeable that the designer likes the Stateside style. He loves the comfort that Americans bring to their rooms. The Fiat heir sometimes incorporates edgy materials.
However, the designer admits that his savvy taste doesn’t extend to the outdoor. So, with the help of Stefano Baccari, landscaper designer, the outdoor of the Milan duplex was renovated.
Lapo Elkann is proud of his house décor. He loves waking up and looking at his beautiful green view.
